The Rifle is the basic starter weapon for Chasm: The Rift, similar to the pistol from games such as Doom. The weapon is a low powered weapon with an unlimited amount of ammunition. Mong uses a more powerful version of the weapon, although his Backpack contains shells for the Super Shotgun. While the weapon is ideal for killing Scorpions and Mongs, once the player finds the Super Shotgun or another weapon, the Rifle becomes fairly useless.
